Valentine’s day: the ancient language of love
Guided tour of underground Perugia with wine tasting
On the evening of 14 February, Isola San Lorenzo is organising a guided tour of the underground Perugia archaeological site to celebrate Valentine’s Day.
A journey into the heart of the city’s ancient acropolis, exploring stories of love through the ages, accompanied by wine tastings from the Tili winery.

This immersive experience will take visitors on a journey through history, uncovering the many archaeological remains hidden beneath the city.
The itinerary is enriched with intriguing insights into the universal language of love, delving into customs such as dinner invitations and floral gifts, as well as broader themes related to love and relationships. Courtship rules, taboos and ideals of physical beauty in Etruscan and Roman times have endured to the present day, evolving over the centuries in fascinating ways. Even key episodes in the history of Perugia conceal tales of romantic intrigue, such as the relationship between Fulvia, sister-in-law of Lucius Antonius, and Octavian, her alleged lover and her brother-in-law’s rival during the Perusine War (Bellum Perusinum).
